PERFORMANCE SPECS

One bag. 15kg. The everyday size.

COFFUEL is a solid fuel pressed from coffee husk, the dry outer layer left at the mill once the coffee bean is removed. Normally it is left to rot, where it releases methane. We dry it, compress it into standard-format pellets and bag it. No trees felled, no chemical binders, no glues.

It is pressed to the same size and shape as the wood pellets your appliance already takes, so if it burns pellets, it burns these. You can mix it with wood pellets in the same hopper without emptying it first.

What it works in

  • Pellet stoves
  • Pellet boilers
  • Pellet pizza ovens
  • Pellet grills and smokers
  • Pellet-compatible fire pits
  • Log burners and open fires, with a pellet basket

What it does not work in

  • A traditional closed charcoal BBQ on its own. Pellets need continuous airflow and top-down ignition, and a closed BBQ does not provide it. Add a pellet basket and it can be used.

Full specification, ash figure and certification status are in the technical specification below. Produced with Garcabas in Colombia. Free UK delivery, dispatched within 24 hours Monday to Friday, 14-day returns on unopened bags.

The Cold Hard Numbers

THE SUPPLIER-REPORTED SPEC. INDEPENDENT TESTING IN PROGRESS.

  • Calorific value: 4,797 kcal/kg (approximately 20.1 MJ/kg).
  • Moisture: 10%. Dried for reliable ignition and low smoke.
  • Ash: 2%. Low residue, and the ash is mineral-rich and alkaline. Good for general beds and compost, but not for acid-loving plants such as blueberries, rhododendrons or hydrangeas.
  • Sulfur: 0.1%.
  • Pellet length: 50mm.
  • Chemicals and toxics: 0%. No binders, glues or additives.
  • Environmental impact: 100% tree-free. Every bag is coffee husk taken out of a waste stream that would otherwise rot and release methane.

These are figures reported by our production partner. Independent testing is underway and we will publish the results here in full, including anything unflattering.

Tracked Shipping & Delivery

WE SHIP HEAT, NOT WATER.

Every bag ships free to the UK mainland. COFFUEL is a dense, compressed pellet, so more energy travels in less space. Delivery is free on every bag.

  • Dispatch: Within 24 hours (Mon-Fri).
  • Courier: Fully tracked, free on every bag, from our door to your hearth.
  • Transit Time: 2–3 working days for UK Mainland.

International Orders: Planning a burn outside the UK? Please contact office@coffuel.co for more information before placing your order so we can coordinate your logistics.

The 'Better Burn' Guarantee

14-DAY RETURNS.

If COFFUEL is not right for you, get in touch within 14 days and we will take back any unopened bags. No argument, no restocking fee.

Note: bags must have been stored dry to be returnable. Damp pellets cannot be resold.

Storage & Precision Care

HIGH DENSITY. LOW FOOTPRINT.

Precision energy needs a dry home. Our pellets are hygroscopic, meaning they pull moisture out of the air, so keep them off damp floors. A garage, a shed, or a sealed container by the fire is ideal.

  • The space-saving win: A 15kg bag stacks flat and stores compactly.
  • Clean living: No bark, no bugs, and no wood dust in your living room.

Lighting & Performance Tips

DITCH THE TEEPEE.

Stop building complex structures just to get a flame. COFFUEL is designed for rapid ignition and steady, rolling flames.

  1. The Start: Place a single natural firelighter in your grate or oven.
  2. The Fuel: Cover with one large handful of pellets.
  3. The Spark: Light the firelighter.
  4. The Peak: Once the first layer is glowing, top up as needed.

Engineered for Every Fire

One fuel. Infinite possibilities. Here is where Cofuel performs best:

Indoor Stoves

Ditch the Soot.

Stop scrubbing your stove. High-moisture logs are trashing your chimney— COFFUEL burns bone-dry, 20% hotter, and 100% legal.

Pizza Ovens

Oak is Obsolete.

Stop waiting 45 minutes for a lukewarm oven. COFFUEL hits 450°C in half the time. Blistering crusts in under 2 minutes. No trees. No waiting.

Fire Pits

Kill the Smoke.

Don’t be that neighbor. Get intense, high-output warmth without the stinging eyes, heavy smoke, or that stale "wet forest" smell on your clothes.

BBQ & Grills

Stop Eating Glue.

Supermarket fuels use chemical binders and "mystery" fillers. COFFUEL is 100% organic. Pure heat that lets the food—not the toxins—do the talking.

DON'T GET BURNED BY THE £300 CHIMNEY FINE.

Under the UK’s Environment Act 2021, burning traditional coal or wet wood can now result in an on-the-spot fine of up to £300. Local councils are cracking down on chimney smoke to improve air quality, making 'dirty' fuels a legal liability.

Cofuel is your legal, high-heat solution. Because our coffee pellets are precision-compressed and naturally ultra-dry (under 10% moisture), they burn hot and virtually smokeless. Switch to a 100% natural alternative that protects the air, your chimney, and the Earth.

Discover The Science

STOP METHANE. START HEATING.

YOUR FIRE JUST BECAME CARBON-NEGATIVE.

THE TRASH BOMB

Coffee husks rot in landfills, releasing methane (a gas 25x more potent than CO2).

THE INTERCEPT

We rescue that waste and compress it into precision, high-density energy cells.

THE POSITIVE BURN

You get massive heat. The planet gets a break. Finally, burning that helps.

WORKS WITH THE BEST OVEN & STOVE BRANDS

★★★★★

“Proper bit of kit for the Ooni. Hits 400+ degres way faster than the offical pellets I used to buy. Pizza is done in about a minute and the crust is spot on. Worth the money just for the speed tbh.”

James T. (Verified)

★★★★★

“Finally a fuel that doesnt turn the stove glass pitch black after 10 minutes. Cleanest burn ive seen. Highly recommend if you hate scrubbing the door every morning like I do. Game changer.”

Sarah W. (Verified)

★★★★★

“Was skeptical about 'coffee pellets' but they actually kick out a lot of heat. Nice to know I’m not killing trees just to keep the living room warm. Fair play to Cofuel for the recycled packaging too.”

David L. (Verified)

★★★★★

“Perfect for london where the council is always on your back about smoke. Pretty much smokless once they get going properly. My neighbors haven't complained once which is a first lol.”

Emma G. (Verified)

★★★★★

“Bit pricy compared to the cheap bags of logs I usually get at the garage, and I’ll be honest, the 15kg bags are heavier than they look! My back wasn't happy after moving 3 of them. But fair play, the heat is way more intense than wood and they last ages. I’ll keep buying but maybe stick to the smaller bundles next time lol.”

Mark R (Verified)

★★★★★

“Doesnt taste like coffee! Was worried my margerita would taste like a latte but it was fine. No weird smell, just loads of heat and a good char. Zero chemcials so feel safe cooking for the kids.”

Chris B. (Verified)

★★★★★

“Bags are easy to stack and no spiders!! I’m done with damp logs geting wood chips and bark all over my hallway. These are clean, dry and easy to store under the stairs.”

Sophie H. (Verified)

★★★★★

“These things are scary hot. Had to shut the dampner right down on my burner. Definitely more punch than the kiln dried stuff I usually get. Just watch out, they catch fire fast!”

FAQs

These questions tackle the biggest friction points a traditional wood-burner will have before trying a new, engineered fuel.

Will my house smell like a coffee shop when I burn them? +

Not exactly, but it will smell much better than coal or damp wood. Because COFFUEL is made from the husk (the outer skin) rather than the roasted bean, it produces a neutral, organic aroma. It is a clean-burning scent that won't overwhelm your home or affect the taste of your food.

Can I use these in a standard wood burner or open fire? +

Yes, with one simple tool. Because pellets are smaller and denser than logs, they need a pellet basket to allow for proper airflow in a traditional grate. This keeps your Spark, Fuse, or Pro Pack contained and aerated, ensuring you reach that signature 20% higher heat output without the pellets falling through the bars.

Are they safe for cooking pizzas and BBQ? +

Absolutely—they are a pro-chef favorite. COFFUEL is 100% organic and food-safe, containing zero chemical binders, glues, or additives. Because our coffee husks reach higher temperatures faster than kiln-dried wood, they are the secret weapon for hitting the 450°C floor temperature required for perfect, 60-second Neapolitan pizzas

What is the new £300 chimney fine I’ve heard about? +

Under the UK’s Environment Act 2021, local authorities can now issue on-the-spot civil penalties of up to £300 for chimneys emitting "substantial smoke" in Smoke Control Areas. Since COFFUEL is precision-dried to under 10% moisture, it burns virtually smokeless, helping you stay compliant, avoid fines, and keep your neighborhood air clean.

Why choose coffee husks over premium kiln-dried wood? +

It comes down to Thermal Intensity. While kiln-dried wood remains the old industry standard, COFFUEL is engineered to burn 20% hotter. Additionally, Cofuel is 100% tree-free; we rescue agricultural waste that would otherwise rot in a landfill and release methane, a greenhouse gas 25x more potent than CO2.

How should I store my pellets? +

Because our pellets are precision-dried for maximum power, they are "hydroscopic" (they love to absorb moisture). You should store them in a cool, dry place like a garage, shed, or a sealed container by your hearth. The benefit? COFFUEL is so dense that it takes up 50% less storage space than a traditional stack of logs.

Do coffee pellets burn longer than traditional wood? +

Yes. Thanks to the high-pressure compression process, our pellets have a much higher density than natural wood logs. This means they provide a more sustained, consistent heat release. You get more energy per kilogram, meaning fewer reloads for your stove and more time enjoying the warmth.

What should I do with the ash once the fire is out? +

Complete the circle! Coffee husk ash is a mineral-rich, alkaline substance high in potassium. Once cooled, it makes an excellent natural fertilizer for your garden soil or compost heap. From the earth, to your fire, and back to the garden—it’s the ultimate zero-waste heating solution.
