Inside the Garcabas Laboratory

Where the Science Happens

Before a single pellet reaches the UK, it passes through Garcabas — COFFUEL's origin and technology alliance partner based in Pereira, Colombia. Garcabas isn't a factory in the generic sense. It's where the real technical work of turning coffee husk into a viable fuel product happens: testing, refining, and quality-checking every stage of the process.

What Gets Tested

  • Moisture content. Every batch is checked to make sure husk is dried to the right threshold before densification — the single biggest factor in how cleanly a pellet burns.
  • Density and structural integrity. Pellets are assessed for consistency, so a bag bought today performs the same as a bag bought next month.
  • Combustion characteristics. Ongoing testing evaluates how the material behaves under different burn conditions, informing the guidance COFFUEL gives customers on getting the best results.

A Genuine Alliance, Not a Vendor Relationship

We're intentional about this distinction: Garcabas is COFFUEL's origin and technology partner, not a third-party supplier we simply place orders with. The relationship means shared investment in getting the product right — from raw material sourcing through to the pellet that ends up in your fire pit.

Why This Level of Detail Matters to You

A fuel product lives or dies on consistency. Nobody wants a "great batch" followed by a disappointing one. The work that happens at Garcabas — the testing, the refinement, the quality control — is what stands behind every bag of COFFUEL, even if you never see it.
